Group of Students Placing Purple Bows on TreesHave you noticed the purple bows around our trees as you pass the school?  April is Month of the Military child and we would like to show our support for all of the military students in our area.  We would like to thank our military students, military counselor, and JS2S students for taking the time to add the beautiful purple bows to our landscape.

Why purple?  According to the 4-H, which developed the initiative, it is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military.  “It is a combination of Army green, Marine red, and Coast Guard, Air Force, and Navy blue.  So Purple Up! cardinals and show your support for the military youth in our school and community.

Child Abuse Prevention Month Bulletin Board in OfficeApril is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the time to heighten awareness and take action, on ways to stop child abuse in our community. As citizens, it is our responsibility to support the healthy development of children. The positive childhood we want for them requires a safe, loving, and supportive environment. Research shows that children thrive physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, and academically when they are nurtured. If you suspect that a child in Cumberland County, is being neglected or abused, the number to call is 910.677.2450.

Pinwheels for prevention can be seen in vases, and gardens throughout Fayetteville, this month. The blue and silver pinwheel serves as the symbol of a bright, shiny, and carefree future that every child deserves. Learn the facts, take a stand, and protect our most precious citizens, this month and every month.
